- BERGEN was taken from the Town of Murray (which was divided into three Towns) on April 2, 1813. Bergen was incorporated March 5, 1877 and is the second smallest town in Genesee County. In its early days of settlement, Bergen was called Northwoods.

- When the Town was settled on the site of the famous old Indian Reservation in 1801 by Erastus Wolcott, Gideon Dunham and Christopher Kenyon, it was called "Plain Brook". In 1811 , a blacksmithing and repair emporium was built.

- Town of Albion - 1875
- The Town of Albion is located in the center of Orleans County and is 9 miles across from east to west and 2-3/4 miles across from north to south. It was formed from the Town of Barre in 1875. Most of the village of Albion is located in this town. The Albion Central School System covers the Towns of Albion, Barre, Carlton, Gaines and parts of Ridgeway & Murray.

- The Town of Clarendon's first settler came in 1810. The name was changed from Farwell Mills to Clarendon in 1821. It is located in the southeast corner of Orleans County and is 6 miles square.

- Town of Gaines - 1816
- The Town of Gaines was formed from the Town of Ridgeway on February 14, 1816. It is 9 miles across from east to west and 3-3/4 miles across from north to south,. It is located in the center of Orleans County just north of the Town of Albion. The Village of Albion's northern most part is in the Town of Gaines.

- The Town of Murray was formed April 8, 1808. It is located in the central eastern part of Orleans County and is 6 miles across from east to west and 6 miles across from north to south at the widest part.

- Town of Ridgeway - 1812
- The Town of Ridgeway was formed on June 8, 1812 and included what is now the Towns of Barre, Carlton, Gaines, Shelby and Yates. It got it's name from the Ridge Road which runs through Orleans County.

- The Town of Shelby was formed on March 6, 1818. It is located in the southwest corner of Orleans County and is 7-1/2 miles across from east to west and 6 miles across from north to south.

- The Town of Yates was formed on April 17, 1822. It is located in the northwest corner of Orleans County on Lake Ontario. The Town Of Yates is 7-3/4 miles across from east to west and 5 miles across from north to south.

- The Village of Lyndonville was formed in 1903. It is in the Town of Yates. The Lyndonville Central School System covers the Town of Yates.

- Village of Medina -1832
- The Village of Medina is located in the Towns of Ridgeway & Shelby and was incorporated on March 3, 1832. After it was decided in 1823 that the Erie Canal would come through Medina, Mr. Ebenezer Mix surveyed and laid out the village and named it Medina.
